Covid taught us many things, chief amongst them, boredom is bad.
For years, we were avid tent campers and still will sometimes, but during the infamous shutdown, we learned how nice and convenient it is to rent an RV.
We accidentally stumbled upon this "new to us" comfort as the world was trying to resume a sense of normalcy. Itching for something to do or somewhere to go, we heard the racing world was trying to get back on schedule and followed closely to see how to attend.
Avid fans that we are, we started hearing about events that were finally going to allow spectators again. However, in order to go, you had to have your own RV because the restroom facilities were closed and water was shut off for safety reasons. So, if you could be self sufficient, you could attend. After being locked in our homes for so long, it sounded like a fun and safe experience.
Problem was, we didn't own an RV.
After a little research, we found that you can indeed rent recreational vehicles through places like RV Share or El Monte for example. As the nearest company to us, we decided to try out El Monte (now called Road Bear) because they made us feel safe with quality standards and all of their inventory is under two years old. They explain everything to you and off you go!
I'm so glad we discovered this option because each year since we've enjoyed renting these well maintained recreational vehicles which have made our journeys very comfortable and much more efficient.

Renting can be more affordable than buying, especially if you only plan to use the RV for occasional trips. You'll be saving on accommodations, travel expenses, dining, maintenance, the list goes on and on.
You don't have to pay to store it anywhere.
You don't have to keep it at your house or build a oversized carport/garage.
You can cook your meals instead of spending more money dining out.
No maintenance costs/responsibilities.
If you were to buy your own RV, then you need to get tags, carry insurance, and all the other fees that entails.
No Maintenance
Renting eliminates the need for ongoing maintenance and storage costs associated with owning an RV. Can you imagine paying for all new wheels on those things?! One of the biggest perks for me is the company will pump it out for you for a small fee. Sign me up! (Unless you're renting for more than a few days, then you'll need to get it pumped and refill fresh water/propane as needed.)
Home Away From Home
Rentals offer a convenient way to travel and experience the outdoors while still enjoying all the comforts of home. Amenities including a well equipped kitchen, full propane tank, plenty of beds and the best part is your bathroom is only a few feet away. No more fighting with the tent zipper in the middle of the night and waking everyone up while cursing the air seeping out of the blow up mattress.
Flexibility
You can choose the size and type of RV that best suits your needs for each trip, from compact camper vans to spacious motorhomes. You literally enjoy it for a few days and then turn it back in! RV's allow you to travel to different destinations without the need for hotels or other accommodations, giving you the freedom to explore at your own pace and with privacy. They're multifunctional in serving as a vacation home, temporary living space, or even a mobile office, providing flexibility in how you use your space.
Variety
Renting gives you access to a wide range of RV models and features, allowing you to experience different types of camping and travel experiences without being limited to one specific vehicle. Whether you choose a motorhome which has multiple classes and sizes, travel trailer, fifth wheels, camper vans for the sportier amongst us, pop-up campers, or truck campers, each offering different features, amenities, and levels of mobility for various types of camping/traveling experiences.
Convenience
Many rental companies offer amenities like delivery and setup, making it easier to enjoy an RV vacation without the hassle of driving and parking a large vehicle. With their various sizes and types, you have greater mobility options in terms of maneuverability and parking.
It would be a good way to visit National Parks and other parts of the country too. If you don't feel like spending a lot of time driving, not to mention the cost of filling up that large gas tank, then just fly to your destination instead. Pick up your RV rental, stop by a grocery en route to shop for food/supplies and continue on to enjoy everywhere you want to see. They'll even rent you linens, kitchen items, grills, etc.
Overall, choosing to rent an RV provides several practical advantages as the best way to experience the freedom and adventure of RV travel without the long-term commitment of ownership.
